LEAGUE CAPTAINS

ALL CAPTAINS MUST ACQUIRE A CAPTAIN'S PACKET PRIOR TO SEASON REGISTRATION. SEE MANAGEMENT FOR PACKET

All captains must be members in good standing to qualify for league play at LMTC (dues paid and current).

CAPTAINS ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW AND IMPLEMENT THE RULES OF LEAGUE PLAY AT LMTC. Click HERE to review the LMTC League Rules.

The charge given to each of you is to see that the league play at Lake Murray is conducted in an orderly fashion.   Please check all the members of your team.  They need to have their dues paid to be considered in good standing.

Each captain must present a court requisition to the Leagues and Tournaments Chair and post a player signup sheet on the club bulletin board one month before that league’s registration closing date, or with women’s league, approximate start date.   In the case of WTT leagues, signup sheets must be posted three (3) weeks prior to current season’s end date.  Signup sheets must be initialed and dated by management prior to posting. Each team member needs to sign up or call and have management sign them up on the sheet.

SEASONAL CLUB LEAGUE FEE (SCLF): a special $40 fee required for non-member as under the restrictions set by the Club's League Rules (non-members may play only one season, and must be paid before the first match of that season). This fee can be applied to the application fee if joining the club one week prior to that season's end (based on the last date to report scores). A non-member may play for more than one team, in different divisions, in a season, though a fee ($40) must be paid for each team and all can be applied to the app fee at season's end.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

All non members must pay the SLF before the firs match of their season.

LEAGUE PLAY AT LAKE MURRAY TENNIS CLUB

Please direct your questions to Deborah Adcock (Leagues and Tournament Chair) email: debisings2@gmail.com or call 619-806-4072
The Lake Murray Tennis Club has one member responsible for management of league
play on Lake Murray courts.

The charge given by the Board to that league member is to see that the league play at Lake Murray is conducted in an orderly fashion for the enjoyment and pleasure of our
membership and that it be balanced with the requirements of our full membership, the majorityof which are not involved in any league play.

To control the balance between court time committed to league play and that for general
membership play the LMTC Board authorizes the number of league slots allowed at the club.

This number may be expanded or contracted at the discretion of the Club Board.
Generally the Club Board is not concerned with a selection of leagues that may have one or more Lake Murray teams included in that league except to insure a balance between men’s
and women’s play opportunities. The Board reserves the right to approve all slot times for team league play.
SEASON PREPARATION

Each captain must present a court requisition to the Leagues and Tournaments Chair and post a player signup sheet on the club bulletin board one month before that league’s registration closing date.  In the case of WTT leagues, signup sheets must be posted three (3) weeks prior to current season’s end date.  Signup sheets must be initialed and dated by management prior to posting.

ROSTERS

Rosters will be filled in the following manner:  Lake Murray members in good standing must personally sign a posted signup sheet.

An intended roster must be presented to the Leagues Chair two weeks prior to a league’s registration deadline for team validation and roster approval.  Failure to do so shall result in loss of slot designation.

NON MEMBERS

Up to two (2) non members may be acquired by a team having met the following criteria:

That team has the minimum number of LM members on the signup sheet (minimum number of players to qualify a team is related to the specific league in which the team plays), their roster has been approved by the Leagues Chair, and a Seasonal Club League Fee (SCLF) be paid prior to a season’s start date.  A non member may play on several teams during their active season. However, a SCLF must be paid for each team for which they play.  A non member team player may play only one league season on a LMTC team.  That player must join the LMTC if he/she desires to play on any LMTC team in future seasons.

CAPTAIN’S RESPONSIBILITY
A captain must be a Lake Murray member in good standing, and is expected to know and implement the rules of the league in which their team plays, as well as the LMTC rules and general code of conduct. The LMTC Board shall not review a team captain’s assignment of players whether a starter, a secondary or sub.  Where a ladder determination is in effect for team selection, a captain shall be bound by those rules.  A captain is expected to notify the Leagues Chair as early as possible when his/her team chooses to disband, or discontinue play for any reason.  A captain who fails to exercise his/her responsibilities will subject his/her team to review by the Board with appropriate censures.
TEAM SEASON RENEWAL

Team captains whose team has been granted a time slot for league play may post a signup sheet for each consecutive league season without applying for a new team slot from the LMTC Board.  However, all slots are reviewable and assignable by the LMTC Board when a new application is presented for Board consideration or when a rebalancing of time is required for the club membership.

RETURNING TEAM
A team will be considered as returning when 50% of the lowest even number of members from the previous season’s roster commit to participate in the current season.
MULTI-DIVISIONAL MOVEMENT
The following method will be used to determine which team may occupy newly opened slot(s);

  • 1st - the team from the adjacent lower division with a winning club record will have first option.

  • 2nd - a team from a division above with a qualifying team rating may move down.

  • 3rd - a new captain forming a new team may apply to the Board for the open slot.
Leagues Chair will contact affected team captains when notified of an intended opening.
CLUB TEAM RANKINGS
Each season your team’s ranking may change within the hierarchy based on your team’s performance within your division using the following method; Win/loss, Head to Head, Games/wins.
TEAM RANKING TIES

Tiebreak method will be related to the specific league in which the team plays.

DISPUTES

Members or teams whose disputes cannot be resolved by the captains or affected parties may present their concerns to the Leagues Chair for Board consideration.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE CHALLENGE LADDER RULES

1

All players on the ladder or wishing to challenge onto the ladder must be current members of LMTC. Both team members must be available for at least 50% of the leagues matches played each season. The ladder is open for challenges throughout the year (Jan 3-Nov.30).  November 30 through January 2 will be considered a down time for all challenges. No challenges have to be played during this period.

2
Matches will consist of the best 2 out of 3 sets. Challenger must supply new tennis balls and reserve court.
3

Any team that challenges you must be given first priority to play you before you can accept or issue another challenge.    Once you have issued a challenge, register that challenge with management.  If Kathy is not available, please e-mail her with the time of challenge: kathy@emmotennis.com

4
We no longer allow an up and down challenge to be on the books at the same time.
5
A date must be decided within 6 days of the challenge and match must be played within 2 weeks (14 days) of the challenge. Once challenge has been verbally made to 1 player of opposing team challenger must notify Emmo Tennis in order for challenge to be valid. Common courtesy dictates that you notify both partners of challenge. The team challenged must give challenger 3 or more dates to play match. Failure to offer 3 dates will be considered a default. If challenger cannot accept the dates, challenge is void. If a challenge cannot be played because of rain/emergency, match must be played within 1 week (7 days). Two (2) dates must be provided by challenged team. If there is no agreement on dates, challenge is void. If the challengers lose the match, they must wait 2 weeks (14 days) before re-challenging the same team. If challengers lose again to the same team, they must wait 2 months before issuing any additional challenges against the same team.
6
A new team must challenge and win to be placed on the ladder. They may challenge anywhere on the ladder the first time. If they lose they must challenge one or more places below their challenge. If they win, they take that position and each team from that position drops down one spot. If existing team loses, they must wait 7 days before issuing a challenge back. New teams must challenge and play by 7/1 for Fall League and 11/10 for Winter League.
7
Lower teams may challenge up to 2 positions on the ladder but you must challenge the team directly above you first. If they cannot play due to another challenge, unprotected vacation, or un-protected illness, you may then challenge the team above them. You must be available throughout the year to accept challenges. If you do not have a valid reason (challenge, vacation, medical leave), challenger will be considered the winner. If players do not notify Emmo Tennis of vacation, illness, or injury, then position on the ladder is not protected.
8
A medical leave (not to exceed 4 weeks) may be granted during which time your team cannot be challenged. And your challenger must wait until your protected time is over to challenge you or anyone above you. You must receive approval from Emmo Tennis. You must notify Emmo Tennis of medical leaves and challenges between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday.
9
Each player will be given 3 weeks of vacation a year during which time your team cannot be challenged. Anyone challenging you must wait until you get back to challenge you or anyone above you. You must notify Emmo Tennis prior to vacation.
10
A challenge Ladder Committee consisting of team captains will meet to discuss any disputes and will present results to the Board Chairperson for approval.
11
Challenges for existing teams must be completed by 8/1 for Fall League and 11/30 for Winter League unless the roster due date is changed by League Manager. Check board for details.
12
Doubles Ladder rules are governed by USTA rules unless Board has ruled otherwise.
13
LMTC Board has final approval on all league rules

This ladder is used as a tool for determining the league rosters.  Captains will contact teams to see where they want to play on the league roster.

Captains have final say in player placement.
